Spice Girls In Manila?

Spice Girls In Manila?

Last night, I got a text from my friend Rome.

For those people who want the Spice Girls to perform in concert here in the Philippines please support buying the greatest hits to beat Thailand in the record sales so that the Philippines would have the highest record sales because the Spice Girls will base it on the sales in which of the both countries they will go. Please spread it to others, thank you. - Source: Summit Media

I replied asking if this was true. He said that it was from a reliable source. So this morning, the minute I opened an internet explorer browser, I began to search my own sources. Apparently, the same message was posted in all the Spice Forums that I have visited. I got hold of a different news.

I wonder who Mr. X is. But as I checked out Spice's official site, it has yet to be announced. So as the blogger said, maybe the deal is not final YET.

Keep your fingers crossed, Spice Maniacs as you march to the nearest record stores to buy your Greatest Hits copy. This may be our only chance.

Anticipating Yet Another Year

Anticipating Yet Another Year

Pao's YM status message puts perfectly what I am feeling four days away from 2008: I am getting tired of 2007.

I am literally tired. For the past six months, I have been juggling myself between two jobs. You think it's great because of the money I am earning. But sad to say, it is not. A big bulk of the money I earn goes to my mom and to those whom I borrowed money from when I was self employed. I still cannot but things that I want to buy, except for clothes.

This year, I also learned that earning money is not a piece of cake. I have to commend my parents for raising us. I am always complaining how hard it is to earn money, how much more if I have five kids and bills to pay?

Twenty Double Zero Seven brought a lot of things to me. Aside from being blessed with two jobs, this year also saw my first surprise birthday party EVER. Thanks to my cool events team -- Planetmint. I was really surprised, no joke.

Last year, I was still excited on the future of our events team. But this year, we learned to accept that not all things go as expected. We failed. And it is okay to accept failure. According to Feng Shui, our Timog Office is not 'properly located' in terms of success.

Feng shui was right. After we decided to give up the office, events literally poured in. Sad for me, I just penned a year contact at GMA. So as hardworking as I am, I decided to go on having two jobs. GMA agreed that I can take the 4AM to 12 noon shift so I could do events in the afternoon. Six months after, I feel haggard ang wasted.

Having said this, I find myself seaching for an outlet. I don't know about how others deal with their stress, but for me, O Bar is the cure. No matter how sleepy or tired I am, I have to have my O Bar fix at least once a week. It's like my own comfort zone. Nothing beats spending time with great friends at O Bar.

Great friends. One thing I love about 2007. I am not bragging or anything but I have a set of great great great friends. My 2007 will be a dud without them spending the year with me.

Great friends worth mentioning are: Lester, Ate Bam, Ate Sand, Mama Grace, Robyn, Randy, Robert, Jaymie, Edmar, Raymund, Deck, Dom, Pao, Red, Hannah, Mitch, MJ, my GMA monitoring friends, China, Krestel, and of course, "Booyaki". They were all with me through all my memorable experiences this year.

Some of those experiences are: Holy Week Getaway, Galera Experience, Rock The Vote gig, Kwentong Starfish Awards Night, Christina and Beyonce's concerts.

Okay okay, so my love life is not that great this year. Who cares? Well, I used to. But I learned not to. With a great set of friends who don't give you as much drama, who am I to complain. I will survive.

With only four days short away from 2008, I am looking forward to yet another great year but just as tiring. As of now, we have three pending events. But I vow myself that I should start thinking of the stability of my job. I will be 25 years old soon. I have to have a very stable job.

So here's me wishing you had a great 2007 and hope you will have a rocking 2008. Cheers!

My Christmas Rant

My Christmas Rant

Last night, a kid caroler sang in front of our gates. His medley version of well-knowned Filipino Xmas songs reminded me that it is six days to go before Jesus’ birthday. I was too busy thinking of things to realize that Xmas is so close.

That was last night. Today, it’s five days away til Xmas.

On my way to work this morning, radio stations also played Christmas songs. Before getting off my cab, the DJ played my favorite Christmas tune, My Grown-Up Christmas List. I was also texting with a friend who was waiting for the Simbang Gabi mass to start. He was attending mass; I was on my way to work.

Same will happen on the night before Christmas. While everyone is busy doing Christmas stuff like attending eating Noche Buena, catching up with what’s going on with their loved ones, opening presents, laughing heartedly on stories being told and a lot more, I am busy at work. Yes, apparently, I have a 4 PM til 12 MN duty on the 24th.

But I have no reason to protest because I imposed it to myself. I volunteered to do the Eve duty so as to compensate with my absences in GMA because of my events gig.

Yesterday, I went to SM Centerpoint and TRIED to shop for gifts. I failed. I am not a good gift shopper. Plus, the crowd is just not tolerable.

Holidays also remind me a lot of things -- especially at Christmas time. It was around this time last year that Mike and I first tried to end things between us formally. It was exactly December 23. Two days short before Xmas. A year after, we saw each other about six times, one of which he chose to ignore me because he was with someone. I still miss him.

Christmas time always reminds me of us being father-less. Believe it or not, my father is ‘working’ on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for the past years. He is also ‘working’ on New Year’s celebration. Last year, he arrived just as the clock was about to strike at 12 MN. Two hours after, he was off to somewhere. We never asked. I do not know why none of us asked him where he would go. I think it is because we are afraid that this answer will be the same as the one on our minds. Up until now, I am still in wonderment why he still chooses to go home.

They say that Christmas is for kids. When I was young, I refused to believe that. I always thought that grown-ups also enjoy this season. But I was wrong. I am 24, so I am not a kid of teenager anymore; I am a member of that grown-up population. Am I enjoying Christmas every year? Hmm. I am still enjoying the holidays but not as much when I was young. The magic of Xmas is still there but not as magical as before. I missed getting crazy every time Xmas is just around the corner.

To everyone, have a very sexy Christmas. Hope you go crazy like kids.

Erap, Arroyo jokes give way to Trillanes chucklers

Before, there were “Erap jokes," then there were “Gloria jokes." After last week’s Makati standoff, the latest to make the rounds of cyberspace are “Trillanes jokes."

The Trillanes jokes were posted late Wednesday night on an online forum that replaced the “Pilipino" website of missing Marine Capt. Nicanor Faeldon.

Jokes in the forum included the “top 10 reasons" why Trillanes and his followers packed up at The Peninsula hotel last Nov. 29, and the “top 10 reasons" they should have holed up at a motel instead.

According to the jokes, the top 10 reasons for Trillanes and company to pack up were:

* Not even his mother joined them;
* Oakwood had a better lobby;
* CNN was not there to cover it;
* The hotel had run out of ice cubes;
* The APC’s were parked in the lobby and not the parking lot;
* Trillanes realized being tear gassed was not part of his mandate as senator;
* (former vice president Teofisto Jr.) Guingona thought it was an anti-Erap, or pro-Erap pardon rally;
* Cool surrender was better than the company of Father Robert Reyes;
* Trillanes noticed people were crying not because of the tear gas but because of him; and
* Even GMA was beginning to look better the longer they stayed.

On the other hand, the top 10 reasons Trillanes and company should have gone to Victoria Court instead were:

* They were only gonna stay for a ‘short time’ anyway;
* Bishop Labayen and Fr. Robert Reyes could have heard **confessions;
* They could have wet the towels in the Jacuzzi to combat tear gas;
* There are no wedding receptions in Victoria Court. Only honeymoons;
* It always has more people than Manila Pen;
* The APC won’t know which garage to park;
* The ceiling mirrors would have thrown off the raiding party;
* ABS-CBN could have done an episode of XXX and The Buzz while covering the coup;
* ‘What happens in Victoria Court stays in Victoria court’; and
* It’s a good place to get screwed.
